Hi, My name is Ami Ligoci, I am very excited to be able to bring to you one of the greatest gifts and life experiences that I’ve had… Yoga! My yoga journey began in 1996 when I was looking for something to help me deal with anxiety and depression. Issues that I have been battling much of my life. My mother suggested yoga. Not really knowing what to expect, I decided to give it a try. I was always active but nothing seemed to stick and give me that mental release or outlet that I was looking for. After my first few Yoga classes, I knew that I had found my thing.
Yoga was that life changer, that light that turned on inside of me. I finally found something that hit on everything I was looking for physically, mentally and emotionally. In a few short years I went from the eager student to even more of an eager teacher. I spent the next 15 years working with and for many of the Countries finest yoga centers that have influenced the growth of yoga in central New York and throughout the Country.
My training and practice consists of several different styles of yoga from Ashtanga and Kundalini to Restorative and Hatha. It was a great honor watching this wonderful art grow in our community and helping so many people get exposed to all that yoga has to offer.
Being a single mom of two young children, I found that it was important for me to step away from yoga professionally and focus on my own individual growth along with putting the extra time into my beautiful children. I owe much of who I am to my yoga practice. It wasn’t until stepping away from the teaching aspect that I realized how important that it was to me and how it added so much equanimity and healing into my life. I’m excited that I am in a place in my life that I can give back and share my love of yoga again.
I realize for many that yoga will be a hobby and for others it will be a way of life. It will be my goal to see that everyone gets exactly what he or she is looking for and much more. Stepping on to my mat has so many benefits beyond just the physical. It’s like entering into a sanctuary of hope and healing. Come roll your mat out and start your personal journey.
